Daybreak by Cheree Alsop

Daybreak is book 1 in the Girl from the Stars series written by Cheree Alsop. This space faring story is one I recommend Sci-fi enthusiasts add to their library.

Alsop crafts a unique heroine in Liora Day; a complex character whose training and Damaclan blood make her an excellent fighter with her human side leaving her emotionally vulnerable and lonely. Without spoilers, let’s just say that when she is rescued by kind humans it challenges her in new ways. Her growth as a character is masterfully written. A real page turner. The only thing that I didn’t care for is the overwhelming number of alien species. They weren’t developed for the most part, and I found it hard to keep some of the alien crew members straight early in the book. But as I read on I did get to know them. This is one book I was sorry ended. I miss them! And so I'm planning on picking up book 2 in the series soon.
